Pommersches Landesmuseum: Caspar David Friedrich. Must see!
Germany, Greifswald (2026)
The history of the Pommersches Landesmuseum buildings dates back to the 13th century, when a Franciscan monastery and a monastery church were founded there. After various uses and renovations, the museum buildings were refurbished and expanded in the late 1990s by Sunder Plassmann Architekten. At the end of 2025, after two years of construction, the new Galerie der Romantik was completed.
For the diverse new presentation of paintings by Caspar David Friedrich and his contemporaries, we equipped the Galerie der Romantik, based on plans by Sunder Plassmann, with various wall types: including freestanding walls that can be quickly repositioned using integrated rollers; wall panels that can be flexibly arranged and used; and projection surfaces for digital images and films. Thanks to their compatibility and long lifespan, the museum can reassemble and rearrange its kub2 walls again and again in the future.
